Scholarships

As support to ALaRI Students, both master's programs provide a number of scholarships, covering tuition fees and/or accommodation costs. Please indicate on the application form if you would like to apply for scholarship. In case of scholarship awarding, the ALaRI office will contact directly the university administration (for tuition fees) or the accommodation owner. There will not be a money transaction to the scholarship winners. Accommodation, when provided, will be in small apartments shared with other ALaRI students. The ALaRI staff will anyway help students in finding and sharing accommodations at reasonable price. Moreover, students wishing to offset their living expenses can apply for small part-time jobs within the University (such jobs are devised so as not to produce a negative impact on the student's academic career).

To obtain a Swiss Government grant for foreign students, please visit the Swiss Confederation official website at: http://www.sbf.admin.ch/htm/themen/bildung/stipendien/eskas_en.html

Other funding opportunities are described on USI (Unversità della Svizzera Italiana) scholarships webpage : http://www.usi.ch/en/container_prospective_students/container_education_master_program/formazione-borse_studio.htm

In addition, the Scientific Exchange Programme (Sciex-NMSch) aims at contributing to the reduction of economic and social disparities in the enlarged Europen Union through fostering the scientific capacities of researchers in NMS and promoting sustainable research partnerships between the eight NMS and Switzerland. For this reason, the main goal of the programme is to establish scientific partnerships, which will:

- Develop individual researchers' capacities

- Foster scientific progress and innovations

- Establish or enhance networks between researchers.

To reach such purposes, the Scientific Exchange Programme (Sciex-NMSch) offer:

- Research fellowships for Junior Researchers: 6-24 months for Master's candidates at Universities of Applied Sciences, PhD candidates, and Post-Docs. - Short Term Research Visits of Senior Researchers: five days to establish a cooperation, to visit a Junior Researcher and to discuss a follow-up project. Open to Senior Researchers from the NMS and Switzerland.
